$7.6 billion in crypto long positions liquidated in one hour as bitcoin plunges to $52,000

$7.6 billion in crypto long positions have been liquidated over the past hour as bitcoin's price plunged to $52,000, data from bybt.com shows.

Bitcoin's price began to trend downwards early Saturday, but the steep plunge began around 3:00 UTC on Sunday.

Bitcoin's price dropped by more than 10% over the past hour, from $58,000 to below $52,000, during which around $4.3 billion in bitcoin long positions were liquidated.

As of the time of writing, bitcoin's price has bounced back to around $55,000.

Overall, $9.2 billion in crypto long positions have been liquidated in the last 24 hours.

At a situation like this using leverage is very dangerous game. Many traders are irresponsible and are buying bitcoins with money hoping to sell it in short term and bank the difference, which result to over a million traders liquidated on a $10,000 drop.

As time goes on bitcoin will bounce back and go long massively on it own time just HODL-low risk high reward strategy.

Bloody Sunday: Over 1 million investors liquidated, altcoins crash by 20%

It's a Sunday and yet another great dip in the crypto market. The flagship altcoin is under high liquidating pressure with Ethereum trading at $985 at the time of writing this report, down - 12.40% for the day. It is the biggest daily dip since March 12, 2020 as recorded.

A significant number of investors in the crypto market have had their accounts liquidated amid the sudden drop seen in a number of altcoin assets.

The flagship altcoin is under high selling pressure with Ethereum trading at $1,952 at the time of writing this report, down 21.46% for the day. It is the biggest daily drop since March 12, 2020.

For the day, about 1,018,638 investors had their account worth about $10 billion liquidated. The largest single liquidation order happened on Binance-BTC valued at $68.73 million.

Such a fall pushed Ethereum’s market value to $247.15 billion, or 12.16% of the total cryptocurrency market value. At its highest, Ethereum’s market value was close to $300 billion.

On the altcoins perspective, the sudden crash as of the time of writing this report could not be fully assessed, but market sentiments point to rumours that the U.S. Treasury is planning to charge several financial institutions for money laundering using crypto. - NairaMetrics

However, top cryptos such as XRP lost as much as 21.17%, Polkadot and Litecoin were down by 20%, bitcoin cash down 20% for the day, while dogecoin has lost about 15% in value so far. Dip still in process.

Many weeks ago, leading United Kingdom financial regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority, issued a piece of stern advice on crypto investments. The statement highlighted the risks associated with investing in Bitcoin and other crypto assets and warned the public that there were high chances that all their funds could be lost.

“The FCA is aware that some firms are offering investments in crypto assets or lending or investments linked to crypto assets, that promise high returns.

“Investing in crypto assets, or investments and lending linked to them generally involves taking very high risks with investors’ money. If consumers invest in these types of products, they should be prepared to lose all their money,” said the FCA.

That said, a significant number of crypto investors appear to be shrugging off the huge fall as another typical bump on the crypto path, and one which, no doubt, will likely see crypto trading volume return as crypto investors look to buy what many are viewing as a bargain, to buy into what is still very much a bullish run.

What should I do if my WhatsApp account has been hacked?

WhatsApp is a messaging platform owned by Facebook has over 2 billion users worldwide. Additionally, it offers end-to-end encrypted chatting experiences. However, it is a fact that there is a possibility of hacking into another account. These kinds of swindlers are active among us too.

Fraudsters will apply various tricks to the OTP number required to access your account. This way, if we pass the verification code, the account can be hacked easily.

WhatsApp 2 step verification

Two-step verification protects your account even if someone interferes with your SIM card or verification code. This is an additional security step that works just like the password for your WhatsApp account. This type of hacking can be prevented by two-step testing. People who use this system can recover even if your account is hacked.

What should I do if my WhatsApp account has been hacked?

You will need to login to WhatsApp again with your phone number to get your hacked WhatsApp account back. WhatsApp will automatically read and log you in and you will receive a six digit verification code via SMS. Once you are logged in, the hacker will be automatically logged out of your account.

If the hacker activates two-step verification after gaining access to your WhatsApp account, you will be asked to enter that code. In this case, you will have to wait up to seven days to recover your account. But during this period the hacker will not be able to access your account.

How to secure your WhatsApp account?

Do not share your confirmation code with anyone to protect your WhatsApp account from hackers and other issues. Also, don't forget to enable two-step verification to safely manage WhatsApp.

  8. Select the appropriate one and click on Done.
  9. The procedure will be completed as soon as a six digit code reaches you via SMS or Phone. You can use WhatsApp without losing old chats once registration is complete.

How to easily transfer your WhatsApp chat to a new phone. Everything you need to know

One of the few challenges a smartphone user faces when switching or upgrading to a new smartphone is moving data from the old phone to the new phone, such as chats from the previous phone. The WhatsApp messaging app owned by Facebook is one of the most widely used and is considered essential for communicating with contacts. So, here's an easy way to transfer your WhatsApp chats from your old smartphone to your new one.

Two main ways to avoid losing messages and other data, including chat

  1. Backup and restore to Google Drive or iCloud.
  2. Second comes another option called manual backup. Backup and restore in Google Drive or iCloud. This is an easy way to transfer your WhatsApp chat history from one device to another with the same operating system.

Steps to transfer your WhatsApp chat to new phone

In Android

  1. Open WhatsApp on your old phone and tap on the three dots in the top right corner of your phone. Open the Settings option, go to Chats, and then select Chats Backup.
  2. From here you can choose whether to back up your chats manually or automatically. When you open WhatsApp on your new phone, it will ask you to recover old chats and media from Google Drive.
  3. Chats, photos, and videos are instantly visible on your smartphone.

In iOS

  1. For iOS, you need to go to your Apple ID and turn on iCloud before going into WhatsApp settings.
  2. Open WhatsApp and tap on the 'Settings' option in the bottom right corner. Go to Chats and then click on 'Chat Backup'. Decide whether to backup chat history yourself or turn on automatic backup and click on the option. You have the option to include or exclude videos from the backup history.
  3. When you install WhatsApp on your new iPhone again it will ask you to restore the chat history from iCloud.

Manual Backup (Android)

  1. This is an option for those who do not have Google Drive update or do not want to keep chat history online.
  2. Connect your smartphone to PC / Laptop via USB cable.
  3. Search the WhatsApp database in internal memory. Copy the file "MSGistore-2020-07-10.DB Crypt1".
  4. You do not need to open the app before installing WhatsApp on your new smartphone. Copy the recovered file to your new smartphone 'Databases' folder. If the 'Databases' folder does not exist, create one and add the file to it.
  5. Now, open WhatsApp on your new smartphone. The app notification will display that a messaging backup has been detected. You click on the 'Restore' option. Chats will start appearing shortly thereafter.
