For those who have yet to apply, the Nigerian Navy recruitment portal for 2024 is still accepting applications; as a result, the official portal remains the only way to apply for any position. Visit www.joinnigeriannavy.com and apply with an active email address and phone number, as information about the shortlisted individuals may be provided to these addresses.
Most applicants have been experiencing some difficulties in accessing the Nigerian Navy recruitment portal. This could be a result of a poor network connection, or you are accessing the wrong portal. - Applicants must be citizens of Nigeria by birth.
- Applicants for entry categories A5, B1, B2, B3, C1, D1, D7, E2, E3, E4, and F1 require a School Certificate and must be between the ages of 18 – 22 years by 30 April 2024. For entry categories requiring NCE, Diploma (OND), and Registered Nurse/Midwife qualifications, such as categories A1, A2, A3, A4, C2, C3, D2, E5, F2, J, K and N as well as categories D3 (Sportsmen and Sportswomen), D5 (Chaplain Assistants, D6 (Imam Assistants) and H (Drivers/Mechanics), applicants must be between ages of 18 – 26 years by 30 April 2024. - Applicants must not be married or have children.
- Applicants must be free from any previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
- Applicants with any of the following medical/physical challenges are NOT to apply: sight problems, ear problems, communicable diseases, mental problems, stammering, or any physical disability. Applicants who have tattoos are also not to apply.
- Applicants must not be below the height of 1.69 meters for males and 1.650 meters for females.
- Applicants are required to possess any of the following educational/Professional qualifications.
- West African School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate (not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of application, also applicable to sub-paragraphs)
- General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level
- National Examination Council (NECO).
- National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB).
- WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guild.
- Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
- Any other educational qualification is equivalent to those mentioned above.
- Applicants would be required to produce their primary school leaving certificate at the selection interview.
- All applicants must indicate/provide their National Identification Number (NIN).
- Applicants are to note that the entry requirement into the following categories is SSCE or equivalent: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 C1, D1, D2, D4, D5, D6, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, G, H. Any other additional qualifications in these categories can only serve as an added advantage for selection into the branch and shall not attract any extra advantage whatsoever. - Applicants with other educational/professional qualifications higher than those stated in paragraph 1 (a-g) are not to apply. Applicants are warned that it is an offense to present false or forged documents for Recruitment.
Certificates or qualifications not declared or tendered and accepted during the recruitment exercise are not acceptable after recruitment and cannot be tendered for a change of department or advancement while already in the Nigerian Navy. Only qualifications obtained under proper service provisions are acceptable while in the Nigerian Navy.

If your application is successful, your name will appear on the Nigerian Navy shortlist, and you will be contacted through the contact details you provided during registration and be put through the Nigerian Navy training exercise leading eventually to an exciting career with the Nigerian Navy.
Note:
Applicants are required to print out the Parent/Guardian consent Form and Local Government Attestation Form which must be properly completed, endorsed and presented during the interview.
The application form is totally free. Candidates are to submit their application at the Navy’s official portal, www.joinnigeriannavy.com. There’s no form, it’s just an online portal you log in and register by filling in the required details. As requested by the Navy you have to print out your application upon completion of registration. This task is best done from a desktop computer, as the portal is optimized for desktop browsing and not mobile devices.
If you have a scanner at home, printer, etc, then you can do it from your house, otherwise, go into any cafe near you to do the registration. You will need the scanner to scan your documents to the portal, like your SSCE result, passport, etc., and the printer to print out your application.
So it is a totally free process by default, the only time you pay is for the Cybercafe service. You don’t own the cafe, it is someone’s business, so you have to compensate them for printing, scanning, and internet time they used for your application.
This should cost you like N100 per printout, if it’s 6 pages then N600 and if it’s 10 pages then it’s N1000 then scanning workmanship, and internet data used for time of browsing. Everything should cost around N2000, It shouldn’t be more expensive than this.
Things To Come With To The Recruitment Center
Applicants must come to the recruitment centers with the following documents.
- Photocopies of Birth Certificates or Age Declaration.
- Photocopies of Credentials.
- Duly completed Identification Form must be signed by the Chairman or Secretary of the Applicant’s LGA or by an officer of the rank of Commander and above (or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Air Force) or Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) and above who hails from the Applicant’s State of Origin.
- Duly completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form signed by Applicant’s Parent or Guardian.
- Four passport photographs duly signed and stamped at the back by (c) above.
- Candidates are to bring the scratch cards of their NECO and WAEC results to the recruitment centers.
- The application form must be filled out and submitted through the website.
Any applicant suspected or confirmed to have impersonated, falsified, forged, or presented false document(s) shall be disqualified from the recruitment exercise and handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agency for prosecution.
The NN portal will post the Recruitment Aptitude Test date.
The Nigerian Navy Training Camp called NNBTS (Nigerian Navy Basic Training School) is a camp that trains members of the Nigerian military. It’s located in Onne, Port Harcourt Rivers state.
The Nigerian Navy officials have stated that the scheduled Nigerian Navy physical training which is done after the recruitment process for all pre-qualified candidates will be held yearly, adding that the Nigerian Navy training will last for about 6 months course.
After the recruitment exercise to identify those who are qualified for a 6-month physical training, the successful candidates who passed the aptitude test and screening will be shortlisted. They will be required to report to NNBTS, Onne Port Harcourt in Rivers State for 6 months of rigorous and skilled training. This training is designed to transform them from being civilians into disciplined and well-trained RATING personnel in the Nigerian Navy, preparing them for a new era in their lives.
